This year on our Embellish staff retreat, Tina took us to Middleton, where we stayed two days and one night shoreside.
The July winter sun was there keeping watch on us, as we spent time connecting as a team and catching up, because you all know how busy it can get at the salon, so some quality time was well overdue.
We did our usual retreat activity, reflecting on what we can do to improve the experience for you all, our valued clients, whether its investing in new salon machinery, assessing what retail offerings we need to add to our extensive range, or if there’s anything we feel we have outgrown. We discuss our treatment offerings, upkeeping salon hygiene, Tina’s holiday she’s planning – and everything in between.
This is an integral part of our year as a team, spending a full day together to engage in open conversations about what’s important to us as individuals and as a salon as a whole, personal goals and professional goals. Whilst also catching up on our favourite TV shows plot twists and each others love lives.
We are so lucky that Tina facilitates this with a beautiful overnight stay somewhere outside of Adelaide, where we can escape our usual routine of kids/gym/housework, so we can be present with each other and enjoy a night away.
But don’t get us wrong, this isn’t just sitting and chatting for 24hours, this is, overindulgence in ALL of the foods, as we all contribute a little something to Tina’s classic Italian overfeeding spread. This is, midnight karaoke, aggressively stealing the microphone off of each other. This is, 2am life chats because there’s 4 of us in a bedroom of bunkbeds unable to sleep because of our intense sugar high from Bel’s homemade sticky date pudding, and blocks of Cadbury chocolate. This is, early morning walks along the beach. This is, connection with colleagues who are friends, who care.
We are so lucky.
In true Tina style, we participated in activities to help us delve into deeper areas of ourselves. We experienced a sacred cleansing ceremony, a native American Indian tradition we were lucky enough to take part in. We had a sound bath drumming experience, tarot card reading, reflective journal writing.
This retreat filled our belly’s almost as much as it filled our hearts.
Thank you for another beautiful retreat, Tina, we appreciate you. xx
